Errors and Omissions [E&O] Insurance

Generally speaking, this is more a generic description of the coverage provided than of a specific policy. It is, in essence, liability insurance for professionals, such as insurance agents. There are also liability policies for attorneys. The bottom line, whether the policy be called malpractice or E&O insurance, the concept is the same: providing liability insurance to professionals.

Most such policies require that notice be provided to the insurer when the policy holder has a reasonable belief, or actual knowledge, that facts or circumstances are such as to give rise to a claim under the policy. So, notice is a key issue under these policies [as with other policies] , the purpose of which is so that the insurer is able to promptly investigate and take steps to protect its policy holder.
